Natural in Forest Hills

Thanks Ellen F. for this tip!

Natural is an excellent store! They have an entire organic department and have many other organic products scattered throughout the store. You have to know how to read labels! For example, the beef in the organic department is NOT organic...at all! I haven't found organic chicken there, but they have almost-organic. They do have some organic bacon and organic 'sausages' (chicken and/or turkey).

But their produce is beautiful and they have a good selection of dairy and eggs. They also have organic spices, which are not so easy to find anywhere else. They have a good selection of nuts as well. I even found a raw organic cheese there!

Natural is on Austin Street in Forest Hills (on the corner of Ascan)

Associated Market Richmond Hill

This plain market by my apartment now offers organic chicken! They also have organic yogurt (plain whole milk), organic cage-free eggs. They have a tiny selection of some organic cleaning and paper products. Oh yeah, they also have organic peanut butter (with no sugar!). It's the same brand I found at Linda's, but it tasted a lot fresher.

Associated is on Metropolitan in Richmond Hill (near Kew Gardens) West of Lefferts near 116th/118th Streets.

Kew Gardens

Thyme Natural Market on Lefferts Blvd in Kew Gardens has a small organic produce section. But you can find many products like organic extra-virgin coconut oil, organic unsweetened cocoa, organic sprouted spelt flour, organic coffee and decaf, cleaning products and natural soaps and personal products from Tom's of Maine and Jason.

Organic Meat in College Point

This small, family-owned butcher is right near our office on College Point Blvd at 14th Ave (on the South West corner). There is a parking lot just past it on the left (you can use quarters or your debit card).

I bought nitrite-free bacon, organic ground beef and organic eggs. Delicious!

It's called Empire Market and you can find more information on their website at www.empire-market.com.

Thank you to Sabena for this information!
